Jerome Roos is a Fellow in International Political Economy at the London School of Economics, and author of Why Not Default? The Political Economy of Sovereign Debt (Princeton University Press).

Jerome studied politics and history at the Universities of Utrecht and Bologna, and political economy at Sciences Po Paris and the London School of Economics. He holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute in Florence. Prior to returning to the LSE as a Fellow in International Political Economy in 2018, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Sociology of the University of Cambridge. 

His first book, Why Not Default? The Political Economy of Sovereign Debt, was published by Princeton University Press in 2019 and received the Immanuel Wallerstein Memorial Book Award of the American Sociological Association in 2020. Jerome is currently writing a history of global crises for Vintage (UK) and Knopf (US), set to be translated into nearly twenty languages.
