Carsten Pedersen

Carsten Pedersen is a political activist and researcher with the Environmental and Agrarian Justice (AEJ) team at TNI. His work addresses questions such as who has the rights to the seas and their resources? who is deciding for what purpose the water territories should be used? and how does material and social life connect the seas with the land? Before joining TNI in 2018, he served fisher movements (representing small-scale fishers) from across the world for almost two decades, and for the most of this time his base was with Masifundise in Cape Town. The fisher movements, and in particular the World Forum of Fisher Peoples, remain close allies in his work at TNI.
